(New York, NY, Upper East Side). Garvey|Simon and DFN Projects announce “Island Hopping,” a solo exhibition by nomadic painter Lisa Lebofsky. The show opens on November 16 and runs through Wednesday, November 22, 2023. There will be a reception for the artist on Thursday, November 16 at DFN Projects, 16 East 79th Street, Garden Level, New York, from 5-7pm. Regular Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 11-4pm.
This exhibition features a selection of Lebofsky's latest intimately scaled paintings that encapsulate the raw beauty of seven unique islands: Newfoundland, Mount Desert Island, Iceland, Long Island, St. Lucia, Cuttyhunk Island, and Tybee Island. Each location has imprinted its essence into her compositions, bringing viewers into her experience of the natural world. "Island Hopping" is a visual narrative woven through the lens of Lebofsky's empathetic eye. Her journey to these remote destinations has produced a body of work that not only depicts the scenic grandeur but also echoes the spirit of the locales and their inhabitants. The show celebrates the interconnectedness of our global community.
